But agra India has more to offer than this one building. Striking examples include the Agra Fort, Sikandra (Akbar’s Tomb), I’timad-Ud-Daulah, Mankameshwar Temple, Guru Ka Tal, and Fatehpur Sikri. On the whole architecture here includes both Muslim type of architecture as well as Hindu type of architecture. Mankameshwar Temple, for example is one of the ancient Shiva temples here.

There are ample tour operators in and around the city who offer to take tourists around at very affordable rates. They are usually conversant with the city’s historic past and can give detailed narration of agra’s history. Agra city was once country’s capital. The river Yamuna flows through this city and its waters pass through the Taj. Being a busy tourist destination, agra hotels rarely have free rooms for visitors who come here without prior booking. Therefore, it is always advisable to book a hotel in Agra if intending to stay overnight in this city.

Agra tours are provided by tourist operators in the same locality and even from Delhi. The other alternate is to use Delhi to Agra train or Delhi to Agra flight, pick a tour operator, finish the tour and return to Delhi. However, an overnight stay in Agra city would be well worth it.
