Delhi Jantar Mantar, which is also spelt as Jantra Mantra, is one of the ancient observatories that should be visited to understand how people kept track of time and seasons in these parts of world when there were no watches and clocks.

Actually Jantar Mantar Delhi is a complex of several structures called yantras, each having its own scientific contribution, primarily related to astronomy.  Raja Sawai Jai Singh II had Jantar Mantar built around 1724 but it was built at the behest of Mohammad Shah, the Moghul emperor who ruled the country at that time.
