Thekkady is a hidden jewel in Kerala. This city does not reserve as much of tourist traffic as Munnar or Cochin. Nevertheless, it is as picturesque. In fact, it offers more to people seeking some quiet moments in the company nature.
There is the Periyar lake and tiger reserve. Elephants move around oblivious of the traffic. The variety of birds that can be seen here is simply amazing. To encourage tourism to this place, many business houses have belt resorts in Thekkady.
These offer many of the modern facilities in luxury hotels. Finding a luxury hotel in Thekkady is a difficult proposition, but thekkady accommodation that is usually made available to tourists face the lake or other water bodies. Some face the reserve so that mornings are filled with the picturesque view. The lake is surrounded by mountains that are full of green trees.
Thekkady hotel charges are not at all heavy on pockets. They however serve local food. It is possible to order special preparations. Many people travel from Munnar to Thekkady in cars savoring the view of tea gardens on the way to foothills.
