Nashik Maharashtra or simply Nashik is a beautiful town in India’s Maharashtra Province. It is located towards Northwest of this State. The river Godavari that starts in Western ghats passes through this town, making Nashik India a picturesque place to visit. The location of Nashik on Western Ghats make it ideal for growing grapes and so it is not surprising to find many vineyards out here. Pandu Lena Cave or Pandavleni caves include Buddhist temples dating back to 1st to 3rd century Before Christ. The caves include idols of famous Jain teerthankaras, primarily Ambika Devi, Veer Manibhadraji, and Vrishabdeoji. There are Bodhisatva icons as well. Many people believe that these caves are more than 2000 years old. These caves are located on Trivashmi hills. Sculptors have also chiseled out beautiful water bodies on rocks of these hills. Trivashmi hills are at a distance of approximately 8 Kms from Nashik on the city’s south.

Another place that might interest the tourist is a cave on Naski’s north that is called Sita Gufa, or Sita Gumpha. This cave is surrounded by 5 Banyan trees giving it the name Panchavati as is mentioned in the scriptures. Tourists also visit the Gargoti museum that houses many of the naturally formed rock formations. The coin museum here would have people with numismatic interests spellbound. More information about Nashik can be obtained from personnel at the hotel in Nashik, or Nashik map that often comes with such details.

There are many tour operators offering Pune to Nashik packages.  Tourists arriving at Nashik with their own itinerary can find affordable accommodation amongst Nashik hotels.
