Matheran Tourist Places

Matheran is a delightful little hill station nestled in Sahyadri hills near Mumbai. However, every attempt has been made to keep its natural beauty in pristine condition instead of spoiling it with contemporary additions such as cars, bikes, or other noisy contraptions.

This is also the reason the only transportation modes available here are your pair of legs, rickshaws without motors, and horses. However, ambulances are allowed. There are many monkeys here so eating on roads or pathways is best avoided.
There is an echo point here, like in most mountainous regions. The peaks plateaus and slopes of other mountains filled with trees make the view from here seem ethereal. Some companies operate a resort in Matheran because of which it is a perfect getaway with family for long weekends as these resorts offer modern facilities as well. This hill station gets its water from Lake Charlotte, which is also picturesque. Many birds that cannot be seen anywhere in the city can be found here. You can find some old buildings that were built during British rule.
