Port Blair Tourist Places

Andaman tourism includes a visit to Port Blair which in itself has ample to offer to tourists. In order to travel to Andaman Islands, people can fly from Chennai to Port Blair, or travel by Ship from Chennai to Port Blair. Port Blair is also known as Port of Blair. There are many places in and around Port Blair which are linked by road, but which may be reached faster by sea route.

There is a water sports complex at Port Blair, called Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex. Here many tour operators offer tour of port blair, and port blair islands. Places like Havelock Island, Chidiya Tapu, Corbyn’s Cove, and Ross Island are worth a visit. These places are usually included in any Andaman tour. Port Blair tourism packages usually consist of boat rides to surrounding islands and beaches.  It is also possible to opt for preferred port blair tour, or customize it as per personal preferences.

The city has some of the structures belonging to the British regime, and Japanese control of this island. For example, there are bunkers here that were built by the Japanese during World War II. Some of them have survived so far. However, many of the historic structures are no longer around because of earthquakes, tsunamis, and cyclones that the Andaman and Nicobar islands frequently experience.

Port Blair now resembles other coastal cities like Goa. The only difference is it is neither as large, nor as crowded. There are ample hotels in port blair.
