Himalaya’s Karakoram has a very large and beautiful glacier called Siachen Glacier. Tourists desirous of seeing the Siachen glacier should, however, search for information about Siachen glacier on the Internet. This is because its climate can be very cold, and some mountaineering skills may be necessary for visiting Siachen. This glacier demarcates India from Pakistan and forms the natural Line of Control or LOC between these two nations. Though the place is a natural glacier, the two countries claim their rights to it, and as of now, the control and possession of this glacier are with India.

Armed forces of both countries are therefore around this glacier and there is virtually no other population. The harsh climate here has killed many people from both armies. The roads leading to this glacier and its surroundings are not well built. People visit Siachen because there are not many glaciers outside the polar region of this length. There is scientific interest as well as the ecology of the region is unique. Attempts are being made by International communities to protect the region’s biological specimens with the help of mountaineers from both India and Pakistan.

Visit this place for adventure and mountaineering experience. The place also offers an exceptional view of surrounding mountains and snow-covered valleys. Siachen does not have any hotels so any plans to stay overnight should not be made. Hotel Siachen is one of the hotels in Kargil which has come up following the Siachen and Kargil conflict in 1999.
