Siliguri is a full-fledged township in West Bengal province of India. The river Mahananda passes through this place as do two other rivers, i.e., Teesta and Balashore.  The reason this city is a popular tourist destination is because of the beautiful surroundings since this place is located on Himalaya’s foothills. Therefore, slopes of the Himalayas can be seen from here, as can some of the peaks. Though it is on more even plains unlike Darjeeling, this city in Darjeeling district still enjoys a pleasant climate of hill stations because of its height above the sea level. Part of Siliguri has expended into the neighboring district, i.e., Jalpaiguri.

Siliguri is well connected to the North-Eastern parts of India, which are often referred to as the seven sisters of the east. These seven provinces are renowned for their pristine beauty and unique culture. Siliguri becomes their gateway either way. A toy train or narrow-gauge train runs between Siliguri and Darjeeling hill station. People visiting Sikkim and Darjeeling often include Siliguri travel in their itinerary. The city is well developed so planning a customized tour within the city is possible with the help of Siliguri map. People of different ethnic origins can be found here, even though this is predominantly a Bengali city.

There are many temples around here, apart from bridges across rivers that let people enjoy the beauty of forests on surrounding mountain slopes. This city enjoys a pleasant climate. The temples here have exceptional carvings as is common in most temples in India. Of these, the Kali Mandir is a very famous Hindu temple.
