Mukteshwar is one of the picturesque hilly towns in Uttarakhand province of India. This town is also in Kumaon hills like most of the hill stations of Uttarakhand are. The region is hilly, with very scenic surroundings. It is popular destination for trekking and hiking. Some of the Himalayan mountain peaks that are visible out here include Trishul, Nanda Devi, Panchachuli and Nandaghunti. Fruit orchards in the surrounding regions have been transformed into resorts.

Resorts in Mukteshwar are an alternative to booking a room in any hotel in Mukteshwar. These resorts offer many of the contemporary facilities that the tourists are accustomed to at very affordable prices. One of the popular Mukteshwar resorts is the Mukteshwar Himalayan Resort. There are many temples as well in this place, the most famous one being the Mukteshwar temple.  There is no railway station at Mukteshwar so far. However, this hill station is connected to the rest of the world by road. The drive from Delhi to Mukteshwar may be approximately five and a half hours. However, there are ample tour operators who offer ride in luxury buses and also have guides giving details about Mukteshwar.

Garh Mukteshwar or Garhmukteshwar is a small township that is less than 3 hours away from Delhi but is popular destination with the Hindus, because river Ganges passes here. Options at Garh Mukteshwar are limited for tourists as the only things available here are some boat rides and visits to temples.
